I got my thesis back today with Allen's comments...I LOVE how he starts with "great job...really interesting...etc" and then proceeds to give a 3-page bullet-point list of things I need to change.

I am also now officially working with Michael Hogg (I seriously love him!!!), but have not officially broken up with Will. I think we're gonna need to have the break-up talk soon (although I just found out that he's on sabbatical this semester).

ummm...nothing else is going on except that I think I definitely want to teach! I'm TAing Research Methods this semester and it's fabulous! There is actually a cute guy in my lab (although I think it's very inappropriate for me to have a crush on him). I moved into my place, it's cool! it takes me exactly four minutes to get from my condo to my office, and yes I drive. (I have to keep that Cali in me!) I haven't bought furniture yet so I'm been doing a lot of yoga positions until that day comes when I can find a substitute alternative (AKA as a couch), and no my blow up mattress isn't as comfortable as Pam's, but hey at least there's no neighborhood kids coming in and out :)

The cable guy wasn't able to hook up my cable, mainly b/c i think he didn't want to crawl in my attic. I was really mad at comcast on saturday b/c I sat around the house all day when i could have been furniture shopping and they didn't hook up my cable, and they only brought one box. So consequently I'm sitting on the floor right now on my "holiday" waiting for them to come back, when I should be furniture shopping. "where is good customer service when you need it" [although it's Columbus day and I'm technically off, I would like to put in my disclaimer that I do not support this holiday or the fallacy that Columbus discovered America, but hey the government said I couldn't come to work :?]. {Jen, I know these are your ancestors but no exceptions!}

Other than that....life is grand, I love the job, ATL is cool, other than they drive a million MPH. "and I'm not a slow driver"

I wish I could offer some great relationship advice, but that's not really my expertise [i'm eternally single], but when if your relationship ends I am willing to tell you that I never really liked him anyway and give you a list of justifiable conclusions to why it never would have worked.

Nevertheless, I did meet a really cute guy in the gym today but he grunted to much, however he was friendly. (yeah, Imagine that Rashon working out! that's what happens when you read heart disease and stroke prevention stats all day and realize that you meet every risk factor) In the south people speak to you, the other day this guy waved at me and I just looked at him puzzled, j/k I waved back! Oh, and my co-worker always opens the car door and stuff (I'm so not used to southern gentlemen). Okay let me stop rambling......wait that's the purpose of this, right???

TTYL

RIL

P.S. Heart Disease and Stroke are the #1 and #3 leading cause of death.....eat healthy, stay active and go to the doctor. More signs that you are in the most dysfunctional relationship of your life and why it might be time to break up:

3) If you get back from the gym (sweating your ass off), he calls and asks you why you would rather shower than talk to him, it MIGHT be time to break up.

4) If you're throwing up after another night of partying with your girls, and you're praying to the porcelain god while saying "I'm sorry" because he's mad that you had fun that night and he didn't, it MIGHT be time to break up.

5) If he calls you in the middle of the night to tell you that he slept on his arm (which btw is totally not even remotely has anything to do with you!) and asks you what he should do about it.. and you tell him to roll over, and he gets mad.. it MIGHT be time to break up.

6) If he get mad because you have dinner with your roommate every night, it MIGHT be time to break up.

<3:pam

So, this could be fun...

Considering that some pretty sucky relationships have been ended within the past year or so among us ladies, it might be fun to make a list of obvious red-flags in a relationship that should have told you that things weren't going to work. So, I'll start it off, and I'm encouraging you ladies to post your own "red-flags" whenever you think of them. Of course, ones stemming from personal experience will always be more hilarious... Ready, set, go!

1. If you're not allowed to go to the beach with your friends because your boyfriend claims it's "your thing", it might be time to break up.

2. If you bring your boyfriend to meet your best friend and he sits in the car through the whole "get-to-know-you" lunch you've planned, it might be time to break up.

Get the idea? It was the weirdest thing. One minute I was fine the next I literally had to have a kleenex under my nose 24/7. Anyway, so today I'm feeling a lot better, perhaps it will dissappear as soon as it came on. I am currently sitting outside under my portico to avoid the stench that is eminating from my house. Apparently we're having plumbing problems. Everything works fine but an exremely unpleasent odor is permeating the house. My roomate things it might have something to do with septic tank. Joy. I also have to be sparing in my trips back and forth to the house because a lizard has decided to take up residence under our doormatt. Being still slightly ill I don't have the energy to catch him but at the same time I don't want him to scurry into the house when I open the door so I'm doing things very slowly. That's the news from here. I'm wondering what all my non-claremont area friends are up to. Here I am, just a few hours away from my flight to Oregon... And about 24 hours away from my flight to the Philippines. And I'm worried that spending all of that time with my family will also wear on me... (Exhibit A: Pam.) Oh well. Wish me luck! And let me know if you'd like me to bring any souvenirs home for you! ;)

Have a good September, and good luck with classes for those of you returning to CGU. I'm half way between chuckling at them to myself and wanting to join in on the conversation. I have only one more thing on the list of things to do for the day but instead of doing it (it involves writing an email to my advisor) I'm blogging. I hope you all don't mine my detailing the mundane trivia of my life as well as the major events. Because that's what I do when I'm bored. Let's see, major events. I don't know if I told you but the doctors were a little bit worried about my unborn niece or nephew (thought I was pregnant for a minute there didn't you?). But they ran more tests and he/she is perfectly healthy; just small and doens't move around a lot. Yesterday I went to Temecula to see two of my friends from highschool, both of whom are also pregnant. While I was shopping with them at Gymboree I got a call from another high school friend who needed to tell me she was moving to Norway with a guy she met at her Yoga class. She announced that "the best thing about it is he's really hot." Am I alone in thinking that moving to a country that only recieves sunlight for half of the year for a man whose best asset is his exterior anatomy is not the wisest of decisions? Ho hum, alas I can not expect the rest of the world to attain the hights of sagacity that graduate school inevitably bestows. (btw that last was sarcasm).

All grown up..now

So it's official...23 hit me.....I'm in Monterey and today was sooo beautiful. I came down today and spent the day at the spa, which was lovely...until I was getting up from my massage and noticed one of those black bubbles in the ceiling..you know like the ones in the store that are cameras...hmmm, I thought about giving them a little show n' tell, but decided against it...anyway, it wasn't "the press" but it was nice...Also, if anyone is ever in the area, I would recommend the Jabbewock Inn, it's a really quaint bed and breakfast based off of Alice and Wonderland....Anyone notice that years that aren't landmark years (i.e. 18, 21, 25, etc.) just seem like another year gone by when you are wondering what exactly you're celebrating?.......After watching many episodes of sex in the city, if I'm planning to live in my role model Samantha's shoes I realized something is missing and it ain't "the city".....I'm thinking being grown is supposed to be funner, so I'm banking on lucky number 23............Talk to ya'll soon.

-RIL

I'll try this out

Things have been calm around here. It's really nice. I've settled in finally. I've been looking for a job, working on the dang paper, and wife-like things around the home like laundry, ironing, cooking, and cleaning. Thang bought me the 1st season of Supernatural, so you know I've been busy watching that. Whoa, it's kind of uncomfortable writing "I" so much, like anyone cares about my boringness. :P Um, Thang's sister and her bf are visiting here until Saturday. We are all going to a magic show thing tonight, that should be fun. I can't wait 'til I get to see you girls! I have missed you all! We'll be in OC next weekend, so if you are free... :D Here's a little something to enjoy, it's the cutie on Supernatural... haha

Ouch!

Wow, this is kind of fun... I love our password, btw.

Anyway. I have to remember to check this thing to catch up on what everyone is doing!

Personally, I've been going to the beach nonstop for the past couple weeks. Unfortunately, it's caught up with me. I racked up an all-time high of 6 hours in the water yesterday. For us fair-skinned ladies (uh, I mean... Jessica?), we know that this can't be good. My body is a nice brown color, but my face didn't withstand the sun as well. I look like a lobster... Or like I put my face in a frying pan. It's horrible. All swollen and red. Reeeaaallly red. At least you all have something to look forward to once I see you in SF! Yay... Hopefully the swelling will go down. :/

I'm very excited for our first night out on the town in SF! I'm hoping that I'll be able to handle the massive load of Patron shots that I know I'll be pressured to take. We all know how I held up last time at Mood. (Blech.)

See you all soon!

<3,
Jen

namaste

i was wondering what this was...i got an email from this site with no info on who sent it. anyhoo...i love the idea Alisa!

I just talked to Dana yesterday (she got into the states the night before) and of course she had an amazing time in europe. i told her that we were hoping to celebrate her birthday on saturday in sf...and i think we should celebrate Rashon's b'day then too since it's only a week later. So let me update all you all on my life. I just got finished cleaning the bathroom. I did the basics, tub-sink-toilet, but I'm waiting for my roomate to leave and then I'm going to attack the walls, there's hair and lint clinging to them (think it has something to do with statiic) and it's grossing me out but I need to wait till my roomate leaves because she thinks I clean too much as it is. You should have seen her look of shock when I cleaned our mini-blinds. Hey! an allergic girl's got a do what an allergic girl's gotta do! I'm all packed for San Francisco. I'm going to leave here at about 4:00 in the morning to make my LAX flight at 7:00. Me an Nams will see you all soon! Are you guys totally excited or what? Nams, Dana and I won't leave for Chico until late afternoon/evening on Sunday so we can hang out during the morning/day with y'all then too. Oh! Also, on Saturday you guys can feel free to stay in our hotel and chip in (the price divided by all of us would be super cheap) in case we stay out late at night and you guys don't want to drive back to Rashon's. Just a thought. Okay, see ya soon!
~JBC

welcome!

hi girls!!!
